Push-to-Talk handset is a ruggedised tri-band smart phone “Walkie Talkie” designed for maritime use, specifically for usage in the fishing vessels where the handset is expected to be used by fishermen with their wet hands.

It is an IP67/IP68² handset for water and dust protection with a dedicated Push-to-Talk button conveniently located at the side of the phone. It runs on Android operating system and links with satellite terminals over WiFi with TCP/IP connection. It has pre-selected applications loaded on it using a managed server to avoid any unwanted traffic generated from the apps and hence avoiding bill-shock. It uses an optimised voice codec designed for Satcom usage to save on airtime charges. The voice is secured from eavesdropping with strong encryption.
